This was a short film I had created for college to practice compositing in After Effects. The limit of a sixty-second runtime was hard to work with, but it also forced me to work a little bit more creatively in coming up with my film’s premise. I came up with a Paranormal Activity parody, that mimicked the series’ trope of using cameras to record the spirit’s activity during the night. Overall, I am very pleased with how the final product came out. The digital mask I created for the monster that shows up in the film is most likely one of my favourite effects I have ever pulled off for a video project. I also believe that using the ambient sound with extra music in the background added to the eerie feeling that the short gives, as well as the use of VHS distortion on the video.
This was a 3D animated horror short I developed after finishing watching the original Backrooms Found Footage video on YouTube, which was created by Kane Parsons (or Kane Pixels online.) I was very inspired, considering that I was a very big fan of the Backrooms Wiki for a little while before the video showed up in my recommendations. The video I made is a semi-comedic parody of those original shorts, using Blender’s 2D and 3D animation tools, as well as some extra compositing and sound design in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Audition to create which in my opinion is one of the best film projects I have finished up to this point.
